Post Naughty Departum

It was a fine Sunday noon.
Emchy kept the early birds corralled with her groanbox until the stage show began. Eventually, a hundred people showed up (some were in the audience).

E=mchy

SOMArtarians who get out of bed (or off the floor) and get their tuchuses down to Brannan and 9th streets by the timely hour of 12:00 O'clock Noon on Sept 26th will find the lobby of SOMArts permeated by Emchy and her mellisonant groanbox.

Emchy plays acoustic gypsy punk, americana, ghost town country, murder ballads and drinking songs for the proletariat with the Bay Area bands Vagabondage, Rhubarb Whiskey and the Oakland Wine Drinkers Union Local #88.

With her tall tales about drinkin' whiskey, love, friendship, and the open road, she is sure to charm you. ("Charm" being an acronym for "creating havoc, angst, regret and melancholy".)

And after your whistle gets whetted by rotgut champagne, you can seek her out onstage at The Stud (SF) on Oct. 10, the Accordian Babes Showcase on Oct 1 at the Sunnyside Conservatory (SF) and at the Starry Plough in Berkeley on Jan 20, 2011.

Resident Troublemaking Clown

Kelly “Texas” Holly is the resident troublemaking clown with Barbary Coast Amusements. And as the holder of this office (see photo to your left) she will tower on stage at SOMArts this coming September 26th (a Naughty Sunday) at Noon.

She has been singing and dancing for as long as she can remember (but since she often knocks back boilermakers with the Clownteuse, her memory might only go back to when she woke up this morning). After graduating from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in dance (his name was Dwight, and he soon thereafter married) she ran away and infiltrated the Clown Conservatory at San Francisco's Circus Center, from whence she graduated Magna Cum Loud in 2005. She has since performed regularly (she eats lots of fiber) with Bay Area favorites such as Lunatique Fantastique, Miracle Theater, The Pickle Circus, and Jump Theater. Texas "Holly" Kelly also teaches things to youths in West Oakland at the Prescott Circus Theater.

Texas recently found her long-lost sibling, Felicity Hesed. The two perform as twin sisters, Betty and Marigold and were last seen chasing men (sometimes bachelors) around the Bay Area (rubber chickens in hand).

Holly "Kelly" Texas will appear on Wednesday, September 22 at 8:00 pm with Circus Finelli Revue at Stagewerx (Sutter and Powell) in San Francisco.

Twilight at Noon

"What's your poison? Buxom pirate wenches? Leggy Vegas showgirls? The lusty frills of a Barbary broad? The Twilight Vixen Revue has got you covered, though its dancers can't say the same about themselves. These talented burlesque mamas are taking it off, one perfectly executed number at a time."

Fall for the mischievous Daisy Delight, choreographer and uber-dancer. Also presenting the infamous Penny Whistle.., darling theatrical taskmistress extraordinaire (also found on past stages with local drag troupe The Transformers, and currently found about town as Hermione in Hogwarts Express). Thrill to the shameless Scarlet Bottoms, troupe chef and power tool diva – and the sultry Cherry Lix, a solo burlesque performer renowned on stages across the nation.

Twilight Vixen Revue dancers come from all over the world...from Tasmania to Bangkok, Eastern Europe to Louisiana. Our fantastic array of performance styles echo these wide-scale lived experiences.

Twilight Vixen Revue dazzles audiences with a repertoire of classic Broadway favorites, jazz standards and showgirl glamour. Sharp dancing and exquisite costumes come together with an unforgettable line-up of all-queer starlets who always entertain.

Experience the Vixens at our next Sunday at Somarts Naughty Extravaganza September 26.
